Camping in California

We took off the last week of June for a week at the cabin with Michelle and her family and My Mom, Dad and Robert. It was awesome since the last time I was there was for my Grandma's funeral. We hadn't been back to the cabin since our honeymoon. It was kind of nice to be there for our three year anniversary! One of the days we did this hike. See that waterfall way out there?

We all hiked to the base of it and then while the boys watched the kids, Shelly, Dad, Robert and I scrambled to the top of it. It was so awesome!!!

Cassi was in heaven the entire week because she got to go back and forth from Lake to mud. She loves playing in water and getting dirty. Best of both worlds!

Getting Messy

We were eating fried rice and Cassidy, as she is in that - I want to do everything myself stage - got to hold her own spoon and have her own bowl. For a little while, she was doing o.k. with it and was able to get some into her mouth.

She then discovered that it was so much faster to just put her head into the bowl and eat that way. After that, it was just a game; let's see how much food I can get on my head! She started spreading it all through her hair. Chris decided that it would be fun for the pictures to give her the spoons and bowl. She is my little percussionist! That is one of her favorite games. Don't you just love the glasses?

The Little Red Riding Hood Century Ride

I'm so excited! On June 7th I am finally going to do what I set out to do before I was pregnant with Cassi - I'm doing a century. I was training for one before we found out about Cassi and then I got to sick to actually ride. Chris ended up doing it without me. This one is awesome because it's Girls only. Cassi and I are training for it right now. She sits in the trailer we bought for her that pulls behind my bike and 4 times a week, we go for a 25 miller. They say you're supposed to get in 100 miles a week to prepare for it. I'm so excited!!! I'm already registered and everything so it's really going to happen this year!!!! I'm doing this one solo and then Chris and I are riding in the Utah Lake Century together in August. FUN TIMES!!!!

Thought We Were Dead???

O.K., I know, I basically let this die for 5 months, but I'm back now :)
We've been crazy for the last while. We finally found a house (yeah!!!!) but it needed a lot of work to get it to be where we wanted it (bummer). It was perfect - huge backyard, great neighborhood, three bedrooms, 1 bathroom that we wanted to keep (explanation later) - all that it needed was some tlc. We closed on the house at the end of February and started renovations in the beginning of March. This is what it was before...

Nice huh. Did you like how the toilet in the master bedroom was right next to their bed? Yeah, that whole thing was the first to go. we spent the first 3 hours we were in the house tearing out that bathroom and making our bedroom nice and big. I don't know whose bright idea it was to have a bathroom in a master bedroom, reducing it to the size of a closet, but it wasn't their best moment. Removing it was our best, let me tell you. Anyway, this is what it is now....

Like it??? Cassi's room was my favorite thing to do ever. The best part is we did everything from tearing out the linolium and putting down the tile to putting in a brand new wall in our bedroom where the bathroom used to be to putting in the new counter top. Can you tell I'm proud of it? We couldn't have done it without all our friends and family though. Thank you Dad and Mom Ramsay and the Mayer family!!!!

So now that we have a house and a backyard, I couldn't tell Chris no any longer and he finally got his puppy! It's a chocolate yellow lab mix, but it looks black with brown highlights. Cassi loves Dakota!!!!

Well, that's all I can do before Cassi kills me for ignoring her. Miss and love you all!!!

Alive Again

I feel like it's been so long since I last even got on this thing. We basically disappeared for a month. All of my family came up for Thanksgiving, which was awesome. Robert was with them!!! It was so good to see him. It was even more fun seeing him play with Cassidy. It's good to have him home again. Anyway, we had a huge Thanksgiving dinner party (about 40 adults) which I had the pleasure of being in charge of. It all went really well. I was so excited.

We had a blast being together as a family. We basically just played racquetball and watched the kids play together for two days. It was nice to sit back, talk, catch up and have fun.

Sunday my family took off for the ride back to California. It was sad because my dad started feeling down. He ended up having the stomach flu. Unfortunately it didn't stop there. My sister and her hubby caught it on Monday, I had it monday night, Chris had it Tuesday morning (first time he's had a flu since he went on his mission) and so on. It was like a pyramid flu that hit the whole family the whole next week. Poor cassi couldn't keep solids down for a week after she first caught it. It was horrible. After guaranteeing our house for awhile, it finally went away and we feel human again.

Our fun news is now we're busy looking at houses. We want to get into a house by about March or April of next year, but we're looking now. As soon as we find something, we're going for it. I can't wait to be a home owner! Sad part is it's going to push back the second car for awhile, so Cassi and I are going to be stranded this winter. Cabin fever here I come. Oh well.

Hope everyone is having fun with Christmas prep! Love and miss you all!!!

First Trip To The Zoo

On Saturday we took Cassi to the Zoo for her first real "wildlife" experience. We went with our buds Tracy and Brian and Cassi's friend Dallin. It was a lot of fun to see the kids reactions to all the animals. Cassi's favorite were the monkeys. They were a ton more fun to watch than Tiger, her kitty, usually is! It was fun to hang out with some good friends and let Cassi play.

The weirdest part of the Zoo experience was this thing they called a white Alligator. We saw it when we first came in and then went back right before we left. The dang thing hadn't moved at all and looked like a lump of plastic. We're convinced that the whole thing is a hoax and that it really is just a plastic Alligator! Yup. We should go get our money back... Oh well. At least we got some really good pictures! The freakiest part was the cougar. It almost stalked back and forth looking and Cassi and Dallin with a very hungry I-can-so-fit-those-in-my-mouth look. Good thing for those fences!
